What is CMAT?
CMAT or Common Management Admission Test is a national-level exam that is conducted once every year.
Candidates taking CMAT can seek admissions in MBA and PGDM programs of some of the top CMAT colleges in the country.
CMAT 2023 registration process will start from Second week of February 2024 . Those willing to take this examination must complete their graduation in any given field.

- Candidates should complete their graduation with 50% aggregate or be in the Final Year of their Graduation
- Candidates with relevant work experience can also apply.

CMAT Registration 2023:
Candidates can register for CMAT by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of CMAT.
Step 2: Click on the tab for “Apply for CMAT”.
Step 3: Candidates should click on the link for “New Registration”.
Step 4: They will be redirected to an information bulletin page, which they have to go through and check on the box towards the end.
Step 5: After checking on the box, candidates have to click on the tab- “Click here to Proceed”.
Step 6: Candidates have to provide the following information for the registration process:
- Personal Details
- Present Address and Permanent Address
- Password
- Security Pin
Step 7: Candidates will be sent a 6-digit Application Number on the Mobile Number and Email ID provided by them.
How to fill up a CMAT Application form?
Step 1: Visit the official website of CMAT.
Step 2: Click on the tab for “Apply for CMAT”.
Step 3: Candidates have to submit their Application Number, Password, and Security Pin for the Login process.
Step 4: Candidates will be redirected to the CMAT Application Form, wherein they have to fill in the following details:
- Education Details
- Work Experience Details
- Caste Details
Step 5: After filling up the required information, candidates have to upload the necessary documents for the process.
Step 6: Candidates should go through the CMAT application form and check for any discrepancies before paying the CMAT registration fees.

Language Comprehension:
- To prepare for the Reading Comprehension section, candidates should read regularly.
- Language comprehension is a non-exhaustive section; hence they should try out different resources and strategies.

- Grammar rules should not only be read but should be put into practice while speaking and writing regularly.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation:
- Candidates should segregate the tough and easy topics to plan out their preparation.
- They should practice important formulas and concepts of the topics every day. Also, candidates should have a stronghold on the basics of each topic.
- Arithmetic and Geometry are 2 very important and high-scoring topics. Hence, candidates should devote extra time to them.
- Data Interpretation is an easy topic, but candidates need to be careful because missing out on important data will lead to mistakes.
- Apart from these, they should learn shortcuts to solve the questions faster and save time for a recheck.
Logical Reasoning:
- Candidates should practise for this section from multiple resources as it’s tricky and can cover various parameters.
- Under this section, learning important concepts of Verbal Reasoning and Critical Reasoning will help answer the questions correctly.
- Candidates should manage their time well by dividing it equally for each question.
- Some of the important concepts in this section are Syllogism, Venn Diagram, Sequence and Series, and Coding. They should study them properly along with tricks to solve them faster and better.
General Awareness:
- Preparation of this section is non-exhaustive, and candidates should do it every day for at least 1 to 2 hours.
- They should prepare from newspapers, books, mobile apps, and websites.
- Candidates can prepare their own set of notes for this section. It will help them in preparing as well as revising easily.
CMAT Admit Card 2023:
Candidates can download the CMAT Admit Card by downloading the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of CMAT.
Step 2: Click on the tab- “Click for Admit Card”.
Step 3: Candidates will get 2 options to log in. They are:
- Using Application Number and Password
- Using Application Number and Date of Birth
Step 4: Candidates can select any one of these to log in for downloading the admit card.
Step 5: Click on the link for “CMAT Admit Card”.
Step 6: They should check all the details mentioned on the CMAT Admit Card. If the details are correct, then they should download the admit card and take a printout for further process.
Candidates have to carry a Government ID proof along with their CMAT Admit Card to the exam centres.
CMAT Answer Key 2023:
Candidates can download the CMAT answer key by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the Common Management Admission Test.
Step 2: Click on the tab- “Click for CMAT Answer Key”.
Step 3: Candidates have to log in using their credentials.
Step 4: They can view the answer key by clicking on the link- “CMAT Question Paper”. This link shall take them to a file containing the CMAT questions and the candidate’s response to each question.
Step 5: Candidates can check their answer key and challenge the answer key by clicking on the respective link.
Step 6: They can download the answer key for future reference.
NTA shall incorporate the candidate’s responses against the answer key and release the final answer sheet and the answer key.
Candidates won’t be allowed to challenge the answer sheet after the release of the final answer key.

CMAT Results 2023:
Candidates can check the results by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the Common Management Admission Test.
Step 2: Click on the link for CMAT Results.
Step 3: Candidates have to log in using their credentials.
Step 4: They have to click on the link to download the Common Management Admission Test Scorecard.
Step 5: Candidates should check the details on the CMAT Scorecard. If the details are correct, the candidates can download the CMAT Scorecard and store it for future reference.
Candidates can also download the CMAT Rank List, which will be released on its official website.
CMAT Cut offs:
All CMAT colleges release their cutoffs after NTA releases the Common Management Admission Test results.
Candidates shall be called for further rounds at these colleges based on their score.
CMAT accepting colleges decide the cut-off based on the following criteria:
- The difficulty level of the exam paper
- Number of seats available in the College
- Number of applicants
- Reservation criteria of colleges
Generally, the top Common Management Admission Test colleges have a cut off between 95 to 100 percentile.
Admission Processes after CMAT:
CMAT accepting colleges will invite candidates who have cleared the cut off for further admission process.
The further admission process of the colleges consists of the following processes:
1) Group Discussion (GD):
Group discussion is a process in which candidates will be divided into groups. They shall be given a topic to discuss.
To ace this process, candidates need to have excellent communication and presentation skills, and they should be abreast with the latest developments around the country and world.
Candidates will be marked in GD based on the following factors:
- Communication Skills
- Team Skills
- Negotiation Skills
- Leadership
2) Written Ability Test (WAT):
For the Written Ability Test, candidates will be given a relevant topic to write. Sometimes the topic can be the same as the one given in GD.

- Language Skills
- Vocabulary
- Grammatical Skills
3) Personal Interview (PI):
Personal Interview is one of the most important selection processes for all colleges. Candidates will face a panel of 2 to 4 persons.
The panel shall consist of professors and notable alumni from the college. Candidates will be judged in the PI based on:

- Confidence
- General awareness
- Communication skills
- Clarity of ideas
